Terrace writer Simon Thompson launches his first book November 13

It feels like the right time for his poetry collection, Why Does It Feel So Late?

2009.11.10 — The Terrace Art Gallery is hosting the book launch for Why Does It Feel So Late?, the first collection from long-time Terrace resident, poet Simon Thompson. The launch takes place on Friday, November 13, from 7 PM to about 9 PM.

The launch will feature a short reading by Thompson, who teaches English at Northwest Community College. Refreshments will be served. Misty River Books, which stocks Why Does It Feel So Late?, will be selling copies at the launch.

Thompson's book was recommended to New Star Books by George Stanley, author of the recent Vancouver: A Poem, and himself for many years a resident of Terrace. "Simon Thompson is a realist; his world is one that, as in some of Al Purdy's work, may escape the full comprehension of humans; yet he holds the life of the town he lives in, Terrace, BC, in affection . . . These poems always ring true to the real, but they can also suggest that life has other dimensions beyond the familiar."
