George Stanley in New York May 15 & 17

Reading, Jack Spicer panel for Dorothy Livesay Award finalist & author of Vancouver: A Poem

2009.05.04 — George Stanley, fresh from the BC Book Prizes Gala where he was a finalist for the Dorothy Livesay Award (won by Daphne Marlatt for her poem-novel The Given), is heading to New York, the Greatest City on Earth, for two mid-May events.

On Friday, May 15, Stanley is a discutant on a panel discussion about Jack Spicer's poetry hosted by the Poetry Project. Afterwards, Stanley --- who was born and raised in San Francisco, and knew Spicer, before moving to Canada in the late 1960s --- will be one of fifteen poets chosen to read from Spicer's work.

Two days later, on Sunday evening, May 17, Stanley will be reading with Jordan Davis and Chris Nealon at the Zinc Bar in the West Village.
