Mette Bach presents at Sikholars: Sikh Graduate Student Conference at Stanford

2010.02.19 — Mette Bach, author of the forthcoming Transmontanus Off the Highway: Lessons From North Delta, is presenting at The Sikholars: Sikh Graduate Student Conference taking place at Stanford University in California this Saturday, February 20th.

She will be presenting a section from Off the Highway: Lessons From North Delta entitled ""The Temple"" which documents a hate crime that took place a few blocks from where she grew up. She will also talk about the Canadian construct of multiculturalism as a modern concept and how social justice for the Sikh community of BC has been hard won.

The Sikholars: Sikh Graduate Student Conference seeks to bring Sikhs and non-Sikhs working Sikh-related issues to an annual conference that unites a breadth of graduate expertise. Among the topics covered are various aspects of Sikh economic, political, health, cultural and social life.

The conference will be held in the Cypress Lounge in the Tressider Union on the Stanford University Campus, located at 459 Lagunita Drive in Stanford, California. "
